Head Coach | Susan Lucas
Coach Susan is our Head Coach and has been with the Hammerheads since 2008. Her boundless energy, care and passion are a palpable force on the swim deck. She has helped countless swimmers progress to be their personal best. Coach Susan has been there to cheer our Hammerheads on as they've grown to join high school and collegiate teams, become adults and have their own families. Her poolside career also includes being a lifeguard instructor and having coached high school swimming at Nease High School & Florida School for the Deaf & Blind (FSDB) for a combined 24 years, and coaching the Florida Swimming Zone Team - Inclusion Team for four years.
Coach | Sandra Matthews
Coach Sandra has been a part of the Hammerheads team for 10 years as a swim parent, coach, and served on the board for several years. She has three adult Hammerheads of her own. She brings her passion for swim to the deck every day. Her bright smile and positive energy always encourage our swimmers to do their best.
Coach | Susan LaJeunese (aka Coach "L")
Coach L brings 45 years of coaching experience to our team. She has been with the Hammerheads team since 2015 and also coaches for the St. Augustine Cyclones, a year-round team. Throughout her extensive career, Coach L has served in various Assistant Manager, Program Director, Instructor & Coach roles for a range of ages and organizations. She is a current member of USA Swimming and the American Swim Coaches Association.
Coach | Ella Johnson
Coach Ella swam for the Hammerheads from the time she was 5 years old until the summer after her senior year. She was a Jr. Coach for several years and this will be her third season as our Assistant Coach. She swam for Nease High School for one year and Tocoi Creek High School for two years. She also swam for the St. Augustine Cyclones. She is currently attending Rollins College and loves coming home & returning to her "swim roots". Coach Ella is our "tutu maker extraordinaire"!
Coach | Caitlyn Zielinski
Coach Caitlyn also swam for the Hammerheads from the time she was 5 years old until the summer after her senior year. She was a Jr. Jr. Coach when she was injured and that paved the way for her to become a Jr. Coach and now an Asst. Coach. Her sign language skills have been a valuable asset for our Deaf swimmers and she loves ensuring they have equal access. Caitlyn swam for Tocoi Creek High School, the St. Augustine Cyclones, and Planet Swim. She is currently attending Liberty University in Virginia.
