Helllllooooo (again) Hammerheads!  

I recently sent a long email with lots of info and several things for you to do.  Please make sure you read that through.  

This email is all about Splash Out Hunger!  Several years ago, some of our league swimmers were working on their Girl Scout award and decided to establish a Splash Out Hunger initiative benefiting Christ's Cupboard @ Celebration Lutheran Church on Roberts Road.  With over 1,000 swimmers in the league and 600-700 families, we figured we could really make a dent in helping families in need!  This is even more dear to my heart than our swimmers getting new best times!  I've had students come to school hungry.  I know so many teachers who keep a filing drawer stocked with granola bars and fruit cups!  When your stomach is grumbling, you can't focus on school let alone practice fast flip turns!  Last year the Hammerheads (I tell everyone I coach for the BEST team ever!) won the Splash Out Hunger trophy!!   Yes, that's right!  We are one of the smallest teams in the league and we rocked it!!  Because we care, because Hammerheads are all about sportsmanship, and because YOU are amazing families!!    

The Splash Out Hunger information is attached.  We earn points for individually wrapped items (i.e. a 12 pack of individually wrapped PB crackers earns us 12 points), for collecting all the items on the list (got hotel or travel size toiletries? have some small laundry detergent bottles? see a BOGO for juice boxes?), and for taking our donations to Christ's Cupboard by July 12th.  While you're out and about this week preparing for the holiday, check the document and pick up a few items on the list!  There will be a bin at practice to drop off donations and volunteers will collect and tally our points.  Let's stock their shelves and show them how amazing the Hammerheads really are!   

Coach Susan REALLY wants to keep this trophy!!  This is the one that means a lot to her!  Let's do this Hammerheads!!!    Let's Splash Out Hunger!
