Sooooooo Much Stuff! Please read through
Helllloooooooo Hammehreads!
I know, I know, so much stuff at end of year. I'll try to make it as painless as possible. Even if you are not attending Champs, there is info for you here! :)
SOS: If you are attending Champs, we need to fill our volunteer spots for Champs. We need each of you to fill a shift. You can even bring a non-swimming teen who needs service hours to help fill your spot if that works for you! We need our FUN Hammerhead parents to make this an awesome meet for the swimmers!
Champs Meet on Sat:
Family Letter: Please download and read ALL THE WAY THROUGH the Family letter! This has all the important info, including the dreaded contingency plan for inclement weather. Do your go away rain dances! Please!!! Arrival and and warm up times listed in family letter. PLEASE READ IT! :)
Address: Cecil Field Aquatic Center 13611 Normandy Blvd A, Jacksonville, FL 32221
Entry lists: * attached The alphabetical entry lists are attached and HLH starts on page 8. If your swimmer is listed for a relay alternate, you may see A5, meaning 5th person. If that's the case, please don't leave until you check with me... just in case! I don't want to lose the relay points if someone is sick. Let's get the WHOLE team cheering for our relays
Heat sheets: *attached Heat sheets for morning and afternoon sessions are attached. If you want a printed copy, please print at home.
Team Tent: you do NOT need to bring a family tent. The team will have a large tent for everyone to sit under. Do bring chairs, cooler, lots of water, and maybe a tarp to put on the ground. It may be muddy. Does anyone have a big shop fan? and long extension cord? Can you let Coach Susan know? and would you bring it? Your tent neighbors will appreciate you! **See attached map for team tent location
Food Trucks: There will be 5 different food trucks at Champs. For afternoon swimmers, if we experience a storm delay (see family letter) please have extra snacks and treats so we don't have hangry swimmers!
Psych Sheet: *Attached. Your choice to show your swimmer. I like to tell swimmers to see how many swimmers seeded just above them they can knock off in competition! It's a fun game I used to play with myself.
Weather: We will NOT, I repeat NOT have weather issues on Sat! Everyone get your bubble blowers and lets put a bubble over Cecil Field. Please read contingency plan in Family Letter.... but we will NOT need it! <fingers crossed, toes crossed, arms crossed>
Extras: Bring an extra pair of goggles, just in case. Bring an extra suit, just in case. Bring an extra towel... you'll be in and out of the water several times. Bring extra smiles - even if it's hot! Share those extra smiles! :) BRING EXTRA WATER!
Warm up / Cool Down Lanes: During team warm ups, this is the ONLY time swimmers can practice dives off the blocks. Warm up / Cool down lanes are NOT for play, only for warming up before you race if you've been sitting for awhile, or to cool down afterwards. Please do NOT let your swimmers play in the diving well area. I do NOT want lifeguards to have to make a rescue! or meet marshals to have to repeat themselves.
Coaches Relay: If you are there for the afternoon session, don't miss the coaches relay at the end of the meet, while scores are being tallied. It's sure to give you a laugh!
High Point Awards: The plan is to present the high point awards for the morning session while the younger swimmers are warming up. Afternoon high point awards will be presented at the end of the meet. High point awards are given based on the 3 individual swims for each age group.
Team Pictures: They are on on their way and will be available at the banquet on Monday night.
Banquet: Monday, July 18, 6-8 pm
Every year I cry on the way home after the banquet because I'm so sad to see the season end! This is the bestest job EVER!!! We had to switch to Good News Church on Monday, July 18th, 6-8 p.m. World Golf Village Campus • 573 West Twincourt Trail 32095 Pizza, treats, a great slide show and of course our famous Paper Plate Awards!
Slide Show: I have a lot of pictures from the season but if you have a couple of favorites of YOUR fabulous swimmer, please email them to: [email protected] These will be displayed during the banquet.
High School Swimmers: If you are wanting to try out for your local high school swim team, you need to keep up with your practice! Coach L will be holding a practice group for high school training 3 days per week, starting next week. This is not Hammerhead practice but I can put you in touch with her for dates, times, and payment.
Don't miss our Fun Friday last practice of the season on this Friday morning!! I think that's it but don't count on it! LOL
Gooooooooooooooooo Hammerheads
